Welcome to Pista Numero 3 Franco Berthod FIS Ski World Cup La Thuile

The Pista Numero 3 Franco Berthod FIS Ski World Cup in La Thuile stands as a pinnacle of alpine skiing challenge and exhilaration. Nestled in the heart of the Italian Alps at Frazione Petite Golette, this renowned black slope is praised not only for its technical demands but for its breathtaking mountain scenery.

With a stellar 4.7 rating, the piste draws seasoned skiers eager to test their skills against its steep gradients and variable terrain. The first stretch, described as icy and sharply steep, immediately sets a thrilling tone. Multiple "walls" or steep sections punctuate the descent, requiring precise edge control and confident maneuvering—traits indispensable for any skier daring enough to take it on. This slope is truly reserved for experts with sharpened ski edges and unwavering focus.

Reviewers consistently emphasize the piste’s dramatic changes in pitch—ranging from intense, adrenaline-pumping drops to brief, softer intervals—offering a ballet of speed, technique, and balance. The variety within the run invites repeated descents, allowing skiers to appreciate its complexity more fully with each pass.

Beyond technical mastery, the piste offers a sensory experience enriched by the majestic alpine backdrop that surrounds it. The panoramic views of La Thuile's rugged landscape enhance the feeling of freedom and adventure. Several variants on the route provide additional challenges and fresh perspectives, catering to those seeking diversity within a single trail.

However, this is not a slope for the faint-hearted nor the casual cruiser. Its relentless demands and narrow margins for error mean that only truly skilled athletes can reap its rewards. The sense of accomplishment and pure joy at navigating such a formidable descent—many say "da rifare almeno tre volte" (to be done at least three times)—resonates deeply with those who embrace the piste.

In essence, Pista Numero 3 Franco Berthod is more than a ski run; it is a rite of passage for expert skiers visiting La Thuile. Its blend of fearsome steepness, technical variety, and spectacular alpine vistas create an unforgettable descent that challenges and thrills in equal measure.

Estrema!!!
